AUTHOR: Rachel Sharpe

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Blurb: “It all started with a favor…” When private investigator Jordan James agreed to search for the missing son of a U.S. Ambassador, she didn’t realize she was walking into a case one hundred years in the making. The deeper she delves into this unusual assignment, the more shocking, and the more dangerous, it becomes. With time running out and lives at stake, Jordan must race to identify the culprit of an elaborate plot while also uncovering a far more personal truth too intimate to ignore… “LOST DISTINCTION” Available Now on Amazon!

“So, when was the last time you saw Arthur?” I asked as the guys cheered when one of Stuart’s sons scored a touchdown with George’s help.

Michelle stared past the men. “I guess the last time I saw him was at Easter. Since Mr. and Mrs. Cross couldn’t make it back from London in time, we went over to Stuart’s house in Falmouth. I was surprised to see him there.”

“Why? Does he usually avoid family holidays?”

She clapped when Rick carried one of the twins over the “goal line” for a touchdown. She looked back at me and shrugged. “To be honest, I haven’t seen Arthur many times in all the years I’ve been married to Eddie. He lives and works in Middletown but just always seems too busy to come around. Eddie never gave me specifics, but I think Arthur tries to stay away from his family for some reason.”

“He didn’t say why?”

“No,” she shook her head. “Can’t say I blame him…”

I found myself more confused every time I learned more about this situation. As I sat there, I considered all the things I knew as fact. First, Arthur Cross was missing and had been missing for several days. Second, his family was concerned enough about his disappearance that they felt it necessary for his parents to fly in from London, but they did not want to involve the police as it might generate unwanted publicity. Third, they were going to a lot of trouble pretending like nothing was wrong.

I looked across the yard and saw the Crosses watching their children and grandchildren with absolute enjoyment. The last thing I knew was by far the most troubling fact of all. As I sat there, it became crystal clear that this family was hiding a secret. What I didn’t know at the time was how great the secret was and how many lives its revelation would affect, including my own.

Author Spotlight: Iris Wynne/The Missing Mah Jongg Player

Author Spotlight: Iris Wynne

Author Iris Wynne is visiting The Passionate Writer today along with her book, The Missing Mah Jongg Player. With a captivating title and cover, this romantic suspense/thriller sounds like an Agatha Christie plot with a romantic twist.

Detective Steve Wade is tasked with identifying and capturing the culprit behind Marilou’s disappearance. As Marilou’s fellow mah-jongg players host a staged game, in the hopes of catching the person behind her disappearance, the case quickly becomes more sinister and time is ticking . . .

Author Bio:

Iris Wynne is a book lover, a day dreamer and a hopeless romantic. She is a writer of cozy mysteries with an element of romance. She is a mother of two girls and in her spare time she dog walks, plays golf in the summer and of course grabs a game of mah-jongg whenever she can. ‘The Missing Mah Jongg Player’ is her book debut.

Iris Wynne-The Missing Mah Jongg Player

Steve Wade is an ex cop with an ex-wife and girlfriends he could never commit to. Now he’s a private investigator known for his knack in solving crimes.

This handsome private eye never has a problem finding clients. His newest case involves five frantic Mah Jongg players who are in search of one of their players who disappeared after meeting a man on an online dating site.

Steve Wade is reluctant to take the case. He believes she is just another woman not wanting to be found. But the women are insistent that their missing Mah Jongg player did not vanish on her own. In the meantime, they organize a Valentine’s speed dating gig inviting all the suspects who dated Marilou Dickson, the missing Mah Jongg player, in an attempt to find out what happened to her.

As he watches the dinner play out he begins to realize she may not have gone willingly when all the suspects are presented before him. He even hires his sometime drop dead gorgeous girlfriend for the event to lure the culprit out into the open. Steve just hopes no one goes home with a potential killer.

He has to work fast when the case begins to unravel as lies and betrayal become evident and the truth of what happened to the missing player becomes clear. Will he be able to find the suspect before they choose another victim? This may be his biggest challenge yet.

KH:       Welcome, Ryan Jo Summers, to my blog today. What is the genre of When Clouds Gather?

RJS:      Romantic Suspense

KH:       What was the inspiration behind your book?

RJS:      I was visiting family in Portland, Oregon and walking along the rocky, driftwood littered shore. There were cliffs and a lighthouse nearby. I thought it would be a great location for a hotel or B & B. And why not have a murder take place too?

KH:       That sounds ideal. I have been there myself, and with the misty, unending sandy shoreline, it would be a perfect setting for a romantic suspense story. What will readers love most about your hero/heroine?

RJS:      Darby – she’s independent but vulnerable. In the end, she follows her heart. Sam, he’s a little gritty but also tender and devoted. To him, it’s the greater good that matters.

KH:       Do you have a favorite moment or scene from your book that you would like to excerpt or share?

WCG Small

RJS:      “You mean you’re not scared to be alone with me?” she demanded. “The town murderer?”

Lazily he lifted one eyebrow, amused at her indignation. “Are you? A town murderer, that is?”

“Then I guess I’m not scared. With that all settled, how about that ride?”

Short blurb for WHEN CLOUDS GATHER

Darby Adams has a full life between her ten-age son and running a Bed & Breakfast. One morning she discovers the body of a murdered guest upstairs and suddenly her home and business is turned into a crime scene. Now she is the sheriff’s number one suspect. With her life spinning out of control, she desperately needs a friend.

The surviving family wants to make sure Darby fully pays for her crime. So they hire new-in-town Private Investigator Sam Golden to get all the goods on her. He begins his case in the guise of being Darby’s new friend. Between dodging disasters and riding out calamities, Darby begins to see a future with Sam and herself. And Sam has to rethink his opinions of her guilt or innocence. Then the fateful day comes that he must confesses his dual role to her, tearing her heart out and destroying any chance at their developing romance.

When a larger, more serious danger threatens to destroy them all, Darby knows she has to trust his police instincts once more. However, she isn’t so sure she can trust him with her heart again.

KH:       What words best describe your book?

RJS:      Truth Matters.

KH:       Do you have any upcoming events that you would like to share with readers (book signing, giveaway, book release, conference, etc.)?

RJS:      None at the moment. My best advice would be to subscribe to my newsletter and check the media sites for upcoming events. Some are in the planning phases but too early yet to share.

KH:       Thanks, Ryan Jo, for stopping by today, and for sharing your book !
