Widower John Hambrice is barely keeping his construction company afloat and his children fed, so when he’s offered a job restoring the Rosalyn Manor he can’t turn it down.  But the big city client with the high falutin lifestyle reminds him too much of the last time he was burned by big money.

As the summer temperatures rise, so does their attraction. He learns there’s more to the city girl then he expected, while she learns the country boy’s gruff exterior hides a heart of gold.

Author Erin Bevan Releases Wedding Day

weddingdayI know all about the excitement of having a new book released and I love jumping on the bandwagon to celebrate other authors and their new releases as well. Today I’m super excited to feature romance author, Erin Bevan and her latest release – Wedding Day!

The cover is absolutely gorgeous and truly epitomizes the symbols of a wedding day – a stunning gown with pastel roses and ribbons make this book stand out right from the start.

Erin also shares a bit of information about how she got her start writing romance novels and it’s worth reading!

Let’s welcome Erin and find out about her book and how you can get yourself a copy!

Famous Bull Rider Dallas Day met Cassie Bailey briefly in high school, but her plain looks and quiet personality left no lasting impression on him. Cassie, however, couldn’t say the same about Dallas.

Their paths cross again ten years later when Dallas is home recovering from an injury, and Cassie is the only veterinarian who volunteers her services at the home-town rodeo. She’s jump-starting her new practice, and every eligible man within a ten-mile radius is trying to land a date with the attractive vet.

Dallas’ older brother bets him that, even with all his charm and fame, Dallas can’t land a date with the reserved lady vet. Not one to turn down a challenge, Dallas makes it his mission to win a date with Cassie. After seeing her, he realizes they’ve met before, but he doesn’t remember her being so pretty. His persistence pays off, but when Cassie finds out about the bet, their new love is put to the test.

Now how about a little snippet? Read on . . .

Excerpt:

“Is there anything I can help you with?” A deep voice asked from behind her.

“No, I think we have it.” She hopped down from the pen. Glacier blue eyes locked with hers. She would know his eyes anywhere. Her heart quickened just as it did the first time she’d ever laid her gaze upon him, and a tingling sensation shot through her.

Dallas looked older than she remembered, broader, gruffer, but still sexy.

Tucker, you have Tucker.

Where was he, anyway? In her haste to get ready, she’d forgotten to call him.

“Dallas? Yeah, we can use a hand.” Chevy still fumbled with the lock. “Can you come over here and help me with Knuckle Head? Dr. Bailey wants him to walk around so she can get a closer look.”

“I really don’t think that’s necessary–”

“I would love to help. That’s why I’m here.” Dallas jogged to the front of the bull and grabbed the lead rope with his left hand. A plastered cast circled his right wrist and rose halfway up his forearm.

She turned to Spencer and furrowed her brow.

Spencer stared back at her and displayed her pageant winning 2005 Miss Frisbee smile, her thumb up in the air. Some friend she was.

Dallas and Chevy led the bull out of the pen while she observed the bull’s gait.

“Let’s get him over by a water hose. I want to get a closer look at his foot.” She pointed toward a washing station and followed behind the men as they led the bull, sure to steer clear of Knuckle Head’s hind legs in the event he wanted to kick her.

From her position, she had a clear view of Dallas’s backside. Everything appeared to be as tight as she remembered, which did nothing to settle those distracting tingling sensations.

Focus.

Erin’s Bio:

erin

Erin Bevan was born and raised in Southwest Arkansas. She spent her teenage years working for her aunt at the local gas station flipping burgers and making milkshakes, dreaming of the day when something better would come her way, and it did in the form of a five foot six, one hundred and fifty pound engineer.

Fast forward ten years later, she found herself stuck inside an apartment in South Korea while her daughter went to preschool and her husband went to work. Alone and unable to speak the local language she turned to books for a friend. After reading a few hundred in such a short time, she decided to try her hand at writing one.

That first one sucked, but by the fifth and sixth book, Erin started to get the hang of this writing thing. Getting the first contract in the mail was a dream come true. Now, with three babies at home, she squeezes in stories one word at a time, one sentence at a time, one day at a time.

She’s a full time mom, a full time wife, with a little writer sprinkled in whenever she can get the chance. And the laundry? Well, it’s best not to open the washroom door!

Meaningful Valentine’s Day Gifts

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

cookie hearts

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate your significant other. What better way to show your love than by giving a unique gift, one filled with meaning? There’s nothing wrong with a bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolates, but gifts with a bit more meaning attached may be remembered and enjoyed far longer.

Here’s my list of Top Ten Valentine’s Day gifts:

  1. Handmade card

valentine's cards

Cards today are ridiculously expensive and often get tossed away shortly afterward. Have you ever received a handmade card? Perhaps it’s the labor that went into making it, or the thought, but either way, a handmade card is always treasured and personal.

  1. Travel book

travel books

If you and your partner love exploring and traveling, why not gift him/her with a beautiful photography travel book? You can choose a book focusing on a specific country, or one that encompasses the world. A book is always a great gift and in this case you can sit down together and plot your next destination!

  1. Personalized treat bag

valentine's treat bags

Fill a bag with candy your loved one prefers. If they’re into white chocolate, caramel, marshmallows, licorice, etc. fill it with sweets of their liking. Attach a note with your own message.

  1. Mail delivery gift

macarons

How about a gift that keeps on giving? You can arrange a monthly gift for your loved one, whether it’s monthly delivered chocolates, cookies, flowers, or a magazine subscription. Your other half will have something to look forward to each month and your thoughtfulness will keep on giving for months.

  1. Write a love letter

love letter

Sound corny? Your loved one won’t think so. No one writes letters in cursive script anymore. But imagine writing down your thoughts about the person you love. List the reasons you fell in love or recall past memories. A love letter will only take a few minutes of your time but will be entirely unexpected—which is a feat unto itself these days.

  1. Art work

birth of venus

Does your loved one have a passion for something? Have you visited museums? Why not gift your spouse with a piece of artwork they’ve always coveted. It doesn’t have to be Van Gogh! Maybe it’s a colorful piece that reminds you of your tropical honeymoon. Or a team photo of your spouse’s favorite team.

  1. Unique flower arrangement

floral heart wreath

Flowers are popular gifts for Valentine’s Day. No wonder. They’re beautiful and often expensive. But how about a unique floral arrangement? Maybe a wreath of flowers or an unexpected arrangement. Does your spouse love desert climates? Your florist can arrange cactuses in a pottery bowl or box. Visit your florist, they have great ideas.

  1. Camper couch

camper couch

Whether you like to camp or not, a camper couch is a nifty idea and a great excuse to lounge close together. Put it in your yard, or on your deck and it will be a great conversation starter.

  1. Personalized gift

wine bottle

This is easy to do nowadays with online printing services. You could create your own wine bottle label and attach it to a favored bottle. This gesture is no longer reserved for wedding gifts only. Or how about a personalized pillow, with a mug of your loved one’s favorite pet? The possibilities are endless.

  1. Event tickets

tickets

Sometimes your spouse may need a kick of motivation to take a night off from work. What do they enjoy? Movie night, concerts, opera? Splurge on some tickets and take them out on the town. If mainstream venues are too pricey, consider buying tickets for a community theater production or orchestra event.

The Power of Love with Mandi Benet

me 3

Welcome author Mandi Benet to The Power of Love blog series!

Mandi is sharing ten things she’d tell her younger self about love and relationships.

I love this list! I’m partial to #1 and #10. What do you think?

Mandi also happens to have a new release about love, titled To Rome With Love!

Ten things I’d tell my younger self about love and relationships

  1. Time changes everything. And everyone.
  2. Treat your romantic partners and the men who would like to be your romantic partners the same: kindly.
  3. If he’s interested in you, he’ll call.  If he doesn’t, it’s not because he’s saving the orphans in Africa or lost in Sudoku.
  4. The right guy won’t make you feel dumb and won’t let his friends do it, either.
  5. You can’t trade sex for love.
  6. NEVER settle for a guy. NEVER.
  7. Do your best to communicate. If he can’t, leave. It’ll never work.
  8. Every guy who hurts you leads you to the one who won’t.
  9. Practice saying, “No.” Then say it.
  10. Don’t date a married man. If you do, remember the words of the late Sir James Goldsmith: “When a man married his mistress, he creates a vacancy.”

thehighlandersreluctantbride

The Highlander’s Reluctant Bride

Author: Cathy MacRae

Genre: Scottish Medieval Romance

Heat level: Sensual

Determined to keep the Macrory clan’s holdings out of the clutches of marauding pirates, King Robert II sends his man, Lord Ranald Scott, to hold Scaurness Castle. There, Laird Macrory lays dying, awaiting word from his son who is missing on the battlefields of France. If the son is not found before the old laird dies, Ranald will take over as laird—and marry Laird Macrory’s headstrong daughter.  Lady Caitriona sees no reason she cannot rule the clan in her brother’s stead, and is bitterly disappointed with the king’s decision to send a man to oversee the castle and people. Not only is Ranald Scott only distantly related to the Macrory clan, but he was her childhood nemesis. She has little trust or like for him.  Her disappointment turns to panic when the king’s plan is completely revealed and she realizes she must wed Ranald. Pirates, treachery, and a four-year-old girl stand between her and Ranald’s chance at happiness. What will it take for them to learn to trust each other and find the love they both deserve?

Excerpt:

Absently Riona brushed a wayward strand of dark auburn hair from her face as she took two quick paces to catch up with him. The movement reminded Ranald of her as a child.

“I don’t suppose ye were too anxious to come here,” she said.

He formed a rueful expression. “Nae. ‘Twas no’ my first choice.”

“I know ye dinnae like it here. Ye always seemed relieved to depart.”

Ranald laughed. “‘Twas ye I dinnae like.”

Rather than take offence, Riona nodded again. “Nor I ye.”

“Ye were a difficult lass.”

She drew up short, staring at him. “Me? Difficult? All I ever wanted was to be included. Ye were forever running off, trying to leave me behind.”

Ranald did not check his pace. “Ach, we did let ye play sometimes.”

With a huff, Riona scrambled to his side. “Oh, aye. Ye let me play ‘princess.’ The princess ye kidnapped and held for ransom by tying me to a tree all afternoon.” She grabbed at her skirt again as she stumbled and caught herself.

Ranald paused and his horse tossed his head at his master’s sudden halt, but Riona didn’t slow her stride. With one long pace he was even with her again.

“And what about the time ye let me go fishing?” she tossed at him. “Except I had to sit in the bottom of the boat and use my skirt to hold yer catch. I smelled of fish for a week.”

Ranald chuckled and shook his head. “That wasnae me, lass.”

She bit her lip, and Ranald wondered why her straight, white teeth fascinated him so. He stared at the reddened mark her bite left behind.

“True,” she allowed. “Ye dinnae like the water, do ye?”

Ranald swallowed back his wayward thoughts. This was Riona, his childhood nemesis, not the sweet widow he’d left behind at Scott Castle.

He caught her sideways glance at him and realized he’d not answered her. “Nae. ‘Tis all that up and down and sideways motion. Makes my stomach churn.”

“How do ye intend to be laird of a people who live by the sea?”

“I cannae say if I’ll ever be much of a sailor, but I will be laird.”

A Time For Love In Paris

A Time For Love In Paris

Exciting news! My second novel, A Time For Love In Paris, will be published with Soul Mate Publishing in 2016! This time travel romance involved many months of research and was enormously fun to write. I look forward to introducing you to the main character, Elise Sullivan, a young Scottish woman who embarks on a once in a lifetime journey of love amidst the freedom of the 70’s and the bohemian art scene of Paris at the turn of the nineteenth century.

If you love true romance stories, featuring a strong hero and unforgettable heroine, this book will appeal to you! Likewise, if scenes of Paris, layered with rich architecture and Impressionistic art, pull at your senses, A Time For Love In Paris will resonate. Step back in time, and follow Elise as she uncovers a sensual, enigmatic love for the city of her dreams and for a man who leaves her trembling at his touch.
